Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

1. Who we are

Yachtmaster Ready is a qualification-aware sailing logbook for RYA Yachtmaster Offshore candidates. References to “we”, “us”, or “our” in this policy refer to Yachtmaster Ready and its operators.

2. Data we collect

We collect only the data you provide and the data necessary to run the service:

  • Account data: your email address when you choose to attach one to your account. Starting anonymously is always available.
  • Passage records: dates, distances, roles, locations, night hours, and tidal work you enter into the logbook.
  • Billing data: subscription status and billing period dates supplied by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store raw card details.
  • Session data: an opaque session identifier stored in an HTTP-only cookie to link your logbook across visits.

3. How we use your data

We use the data we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the logbook and readiness calculations.
  • Process subscription payments via Stripe and keep your plan status accurate.
  • Send transactional emails if you have attached an email address (e.g. billing receipts).
  • Diagnose errors and protect the service against abuse.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except as described in section 4.

4. Third-party processors

We share minimal data with the following processors, each bound by data-processing agreements:

  • Stripe— payment processing. Stripe may receive your email address and billing information. Stripe's privacy policy governs their use of that data.
  • Vercel — hosting and edge infrastructure. Server logs may be retained for a short period for operational purposes.

5. Data retention

We retain your passage records and account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, your personal data (email, passages, and session records) will be removed within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated data may be retained for service improvement.

6. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, or to ask questions about how your data is handled, contact us at the address below.

7. Cookies

We set one functional cookie — an HTTP-only session identifier — that is strictly necessary for the service to work. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: HTTPS in transit, HTTP-only cookies for sessions, and least-privilege access to production data. We do not log raw email addresses or passage details beyond what is needed for debugging.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a revised date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact

Questions about this policy or requests relating to your personal data can be sent to privacy@yachtmasterready.com.
